A passion for flying

Based in Norfolk, Air-real is the brainchild of Jonathan Blaxill. Already a keen amateur photographer, Jonathan got the bug for building and flying model aircraft quite a few years ago, but it was in 2010 that he decided to combine his twin passions and transform what was then just a hobby into a full-time business. It took two more years of building and testing to construct an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle that was safe, reliable and flexible enough to do the kind of jobs that Jonathan wanted to be able to carry out.

As all professional operators of small unmanned aircraft must be approved and licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority, Jonathan also used that time to do all the necessary training to become a fully qualified unmanned aircraft operator. With permission to fly granted by the CAA, Air-real took off as a going concern in 2012 and Jonathan is now in the happy position of making a living in a way that gives him both pleasure and satisfaction. With the aerial photography business now well established and attracting an ever-growing client base, Jonathan is turning his attention to expanding into aerial videography. A new, bigger UAV capable of carrying a professional video camera is under construction and Jonathan is putting the finishing touches to the remote control systems that will operate both the camera and the unmanned aircraft.
